SUMMARY:Truth or Consequences
DESCRIPTION:Who’s ready to get out of the cold and head down to New Mexico for our annual winter retreat?! Truth or Consequences has miles of incredible desert trails from mountain single track to fast open desert roads. Elephant Butte is known as a summer spot so this time of year there is absolutely no one out on the trails despite day time temps averaging around 60! \nNothing out here is super technical\, though not for the very novice either. Any 500cc and smaller bike will do just fine in the sandy soil. Plates are required to ride on road to the trail heads. \nWe will be staying in a nice house in Elephant Butte. 3 bedrooms\, and 5 beds are available\, as well as plenty or space to set up an air mattress on the floor. ( that’s what I will be doing). 2 bathrooms and a kitchen to cook breakfast and dinner in\, as well as laundry on site. Price for lodging for the entire week is just $200 per person! Trip will be limited to 8 people Max!

There is some absolutely incredible riding in this area for any skill level\, lots of real technical stuff\, lots of single track\, lots of jeep road. Most of the trails out here are single or two track best for small bikes. Larger bikes and beginner riders can explore the surrounding areas of Gypsum\, Eagle\, and down to Leadville and north towards Steamboat. I will be leading several rides throughout the day for beginner/intermediate as well as advanced riders. \nThis is a great place to come practice your skills. Bring the wife and kids and lets have a blast! We will be camping from Thursday night through Monday along Spring Creek Road. Follow gps coordinates. It’s very easy to find\, there are tons of spots along that road if you want your own spot. Cell service has worked in the past for me as well. DESCRIPTION:Details\nhttps://www.meetup.com/Front-Range-Dual-Sport-Riders/events/269319053/ \n\nJoin us for a fun week of early season riding in Utah’s San Rafael Swell area. Located just southwest of Green River\, this area offers a great deal of riding suitable to all rider skills and bikes. The main roads and much of the area to the north are great for big bikes and easy riding\, while the south and the numbered trails are amazing for small bikes and technical riding. (who’s up for doing “5 miles of hell” with me?) \nI will be bringing both bikes (Africa Twin and XR650R) But will mostly be leading technical dirt bike rides on the trails. However\, one day I will definitely lead a long loop ride thru Capital Reef\, and Boulder Canyon and Burr Trail. (250ish miles\, I can’t remember exactly). Goblin Valley is also a 10 minute ride from camp and is an out of this world experience. \nWe will be camping at Temple Mountain Campground\nhttps://www.blm.gov/visit/temple-mountain-townsite-campground \nTemps will likely be in the 40’s or cooler at night so plan accordingly\nThere are vault toilets available but please bring your own TP as they may be out. The nearest town is Green River. Last year the State Park was not allowing walk in showers due to low water levels. Brian has offered his camp shower but you will need to provide your own water. Please bring at least 10 gallons of fuel to re-fuel in camp and avoid trips into town. \nPlease make sure your bike is in proper mechanical condition with good off road tires. Bring plenty of water both for camp and for on the bike as there is no water available there.
