SUMMARY:Baja Mexico On-Road adventure trip
DESCRIPTION:          \nJoin Whisky Throttle Adventures for an unforgettable On-Road motorcycling experience in the heart of Baja. Beginning at the boarder crossing at Tecate\, we will head all the way down to Cabo San Lucas for a couple days of beaches and Margaritas before stopping for Whale watching on our return trip home. \nItinerary: \nSaturday 9th. Leave out of Denver and hotel along the way. \nSunday 10th. Tecate to Ensenada. Ride Miles 70; Meet at the Tecate border crossing in California. Located about 40 miles east of San Diego\, this crossing has far less traffic and is usually very easy to cross\, both ways\, and offers parking to store vehicles at for $5-$10 per day. Security is not a problem as the area is under 24 hour surveillance from border patrol. Once everyone is there we will cross as a group and make the 2 hour ride south thru the Valle de Guadalupe wine region to Ensenada. \n \nMonday 11th. Ensenada to San Quintin. Ride Miles 120; After the long drive down we will begin our Baja Adventure with an enjoyable and relaxing day as we make our way south to San Quintin\, stopping to enjoy a few tasters at the local wineries along the way. Make sure to save enough energy to ride on the beach when we get there! \nTuesday 12th San Quintin to Bahia de los Angeles Ride Miles 225; Today takes us south to an early lunch/late breakfast at the famous Mama Espinosa’s in El Rosario (39 miles from San Quintin) before turning inland across the peninsula to the Sea of Cortez to the sleepy fishing town of Bahia De Los Angeles (Bay of L.A.). Along the way we will pass the Valle de los cirios\, one of the most lush cactus groves in Baja. \n \nWednesday 13th. Bahia de los Angeles to Mulege. Ride Miles 300; Our first long day takes us back over the mountains to the Pacific side where we cross into Baja California Sur (south) and turn back east to the Sea of Cortez where we will ride along the coast thru Santa Rosalia and down to the beautiful town of Mulege. \nThursday 14th. Mulege to La Paz. Ride Miles 310; We will head south down the Sea of Cortez stopping at the Bahia Concepcion to look for whale sharks. From there we turn inland thru Ciudad Insurgentes and Ciudad Constitucion before the long desolate stretch to the harbor town of La Paz\, the traditional end point for the Baja 1000. \n \nFriday 15th. Ride Miles 100-180. After leaving La Paz riders will have the option for riding some dirt or staying on pavement to Cabo San Lucas. The dirt route is sandy but usually passable by passenger car. This route will give us a beer stop at Cabo Pulmo. The pavement option will take riders around the Sierra de Laguna mountain range. \n \nSaturday 16th. Cabo San Lucas layover day. Ride miles 0 (unless you go exploring 😉 We will have the day off to take in Cabo San Lucas. There is a Laundry Service there that will clean and fold your clothes for not much money. I will be renting a jet ski and eating at the Crazy Lobster. \nSunday 17th. Cabo San Lucas to Loreto. Ride Miles 320; We begin our trip back north with a long riding day to knock out some of the miles we have already seen and get back to the good stuff. Ending our day in the historic town of Loreto on the Sea of Cortez\, where we can check out the Mission and the wonderful Town Plaza. \n \nMonday 18th. Loreto to San Ignacio. Ride Miles 175; Heading back up the Sea of Cortez takes us to my favorite place on the peninsula\, San Ignacio. The Plaza here is the most relaxing place. \nTuesday 19th. San Ignacio layover day. Ride Miles 0-100; Relax in town and enjoy the local eatery’s or book a trip out to the Laguna San Ignacio for a whale watching tour. Every time I have done the whale watching I have been able to actually reach out and pet a Grey Whale! Tours are available with Transport out to the Laguna or ride the 50 miles out with about 25 miles of gravel road. \n \nWednesday 20th. San Ignacio to San Felipe. Ride Miles 335; After our relaxing day with the whales we now head north back to the Sea of Cortez to San Felipe\, a town with rich ties to Baja racing. Hwy 3 north from Chapala is notoriously pot holed so slower speeds are necessary \nThursday 21st. San Felipe to Ensenada Ride Miles 160; Our last leg of this journey takes us back over the Sierra de Juarez mountains back to Ensenada for one last night on the town. Last chance to stuff the saddle bags with *shifty look* “souvenirs” \n \nFriday 22nd Ensenada to Tecate. Ride Miles 70; Sadly we must now say Adios to Mexico. The crossing back into the States is usually fairly straight forward. Again please use the comments below to plan Carpool and caravans to and from the boarder. \nthis trip is pavement based with limited dirt so any bike capable of comfortably riding at 75mph and any riding level is welcome. Trip will involve multiple days of 200-300 miles. Some dirt will be encountered as the highways are still experiencing reconstruction from the hurricane. There will be a few options along the way for some dirt alternate routes\, but basically this is a paved ride. \nAll hotel accommodations in Mexico\, your Mexican Tourist Visa (FMM card) and a chase truck are included in ticket price. Travel to Mexico\, Fuel\, Insurance (required as your US insurance does not cover Mexico)\, Food and Souvenirs are NOT included in price. \nEveryone is responsible for their own travel to the Mexican boarder. I find Camp Verde\, AZ to be a good half way point from Denver and The Copper Inn a nice reasonably priced hotel. Please use the comments section if you want to organize car pools. I can take 4-5 bikes and 1 passenger if people want to take a fuel efficient car down. \nI will be taking my Tacoma down as a chase truck. Each person can put one (1) duffle bag in the bed if you want to keep weight off your bike or bring a bike that doesn’t store a lot. This is a Pavement ride and we will be staying in hotels each night\, *No camping*\, so you don’t need to bring the kitchen sink! \nBikes should all be in good mechanical condition and must carry tools specific to your bike as well as a spare tube for Front and Rear even if you are tubeless. Mexican roads are full of potholes and tubeless doesn’t seal when the rims bent! (it’s happened) I will have a spare 21 and 18″ tire in the truck. If any one has a spare 19 and 17 they want to add that would be cool. \nIn order to make this trip cost viable there is a minimum of 7 tickets that must be sold with a maximum of 12 tickets available. Each ticket is a single rider\, single room. Couples wishing to share a room can contact me for shared pricing. \nAs always call with any questions. 970-308-0374 \n  \n*Lastly I am looking for someone who wants to drive the chase truck. All rooms will be provided in compensation for driving.*

SUMMARY:Truth or Consequences\, NM. Dirt Bike Trip
DESCRIPTION:With some fresh upgrades to my XR650R I’m super excited for this years Truth or Consequences\, New Mexico ride. If you’ve been with the group for awhile you’ll know we head down to TorC every Jan and it is a blast! This area has some incredible terrain\, history\, scenery and decent weather this time of year. Day time temps are usually 50-60 with very little chance of rain. \n  \nDirt bikes and intermediate skills required. The terrain here is rocky and sandy. Fast desert riding\, tight single track and washes are the norm. \n  \nWe will plan to hit Palomas Gap\, Hatch\,NM\, San Mateo Mts\, and endless miles of desert trails. There are miles of trails right in town that we can hit in the evenings as daily “last hurrahs”. \n  \nWe will be renting a house to stay in. Cost is for the entire duration of the trip. No discounts for late arrival/early departure. Limited to 8 riders. \n  \nI’m trying something new this year. I’ve divided the house rental cost up based on beds and room situation\, that way we aren’t all paying the same price when one guys got his own shitter and one guys set up under a stairwell! First come first served. \n  \nPlease bring food and libations to share. I’ll plan to make breakfast every morning before we head out. \n  \nPlease carry a gps and have basic maps of the area download and be able to get yourself home if we get separated. Please also have a plan to get yourself and you bike back home if you should get injured. \n  \nAs always please call with any questions 970-308-0374

SUMMARY:Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POSTING BEFORE SIGNING UP AND ASKING QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS. \nBack by popular demand (thanks\, Marc) we will be running the Coloardo BDR this Sept. Join us for an adventurous week enjoying the most beautiful scenery the Centennial state has to offer. \nPlan will be to meet up at Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride at 8:00am on Saturday the 9th and ride to Dolores and camp at ‘House Creek Campground’ right at the start of the dirt section. We will take 2 days in the San Juan range and enjoy some extra trails before heading north on the route. At the end I may decide to hit the first 3 sections of the Wyoming BDR since I did not get to see those last year. \nFrom RideBDR.com https://ridebdr.com/cobdr/ \nIf getting high is your thing\, Colorado offers some of the tallest mountains passable by motorcycle in the US. With several passes over 12\,000 feet\, there is no shortage of views on this route\, just shortness of breath while taking in the sights in the thin air of Ophir\, Corkscrew\, Hurricane\, California\, Cinnamon\, Cumberland\, Cottonwood\, Weston and Hagerman passes. \nBeginning in the four corners location where\, CO\, AZ\, NM and UT intersect\, this 682-mile route winds its way north through the Rocky Mountains to the Wyoming border. The terrain includes dirt roads with rocks\, sand and even a few water crossings to keep it exciting. \nBest time of year: July through September. Most of the route can be done in late June. Depending on snowpack you might not make it through some high passes until sometime in July. \nLike all BDR Routes\, these ARE NOT BEGINNER RIDES as they are best suited for full size ADV bikes carrying a weeks worth of provisions. If you are an intermediate rider a smaller bike might suit you best. \nAll bikes must be plated and in good working order with fresh\, knobby tires\, oil changed and checked\, chains in good condition and all lights working. Please bring a tool kit specific to your bike and spare front and rear tubes (even if you are tubeless- No exceptions)\, as well as extra RocStraps or other tie downs to hold on anything that yard sales! \nPack light\, These bikes are heavy enough! We will plan to camp about 50-70% of the time and hotel every few nights as the opportunity and need arises. We will get meals and supplies in towns as we go thru/camp nearby. \nKickstands up at 9:00am if camping and 8:00am from Hotels! \nTo cover group operating expense and ensure those who sign up actually attend\, all multi day rides have a $100 sign up cost. This is a “self guided” adventure and all riders should have gps and/or maps. \nPlease call with any questions 970-308-0374 \nAdam Animal

SUMMARY:Washington Backcountry Discovery Route
DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POSTING BEFORE SIGNING UP AND ASKING QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS. \nThis August we are going to head to the northwest for back to back Oregon and Washington BDRs. Oregon ends where Washington starts. I have not ridden either of these routes yet and am super excited to check them out. Last weeks New Mexico BDR lit the fire under my ass to get up there! My understanding is the Oregon is one of the more challenging routes they have put together\, and Washington is on the easier side. You do not need to attend both to come to either one. \nSince I will be in Oregon\, riders will need to coordinate the ride to Washington themselves. Please use the comments section below and not the group messages to plan. I think Hood River would be a good place to plan to group up for the start of Washington. Please make you reservations at hotels on your own. We will plan to start the Washington route Monday the 7th from Hood River. \nIMPORTAINT!!! Washington Requires a permit to cross state lands. Each rider must purchase this additional tax on their own. It can be purchased online at https://store.discoverpass.wa.gov/ \nLike all BDR Routes\, these ARE NOT BEGINNER RIDES as they are best suited for full size ADV bikes carrying a weeks worth of provisions. If you are an intermediate rider a smaller bike might suit you best. \nAt the end of the Washington BDR there is some talk of hitting a few sections of the Idaho BDR North to South on the way back to Denver. Nothing is set in stone but if anyone wants to plan for that please let me know. \nFrom RideBDR.com https://ridebdr.com/wabdr/ \nThis 575-mile route thoroughly explores the Cascade Mountains beginning in Stevenson\, WA and making it to the Canadian border at Night Hawk. Views of the massive volcanic mountains from the dense forest in the southern part of the route are stunning and the open arid pine forests of the central part of the route showcase the diversity of Washington. The route just seems to get better each day as you head north and into the high-mountain areas beyond Lake Chelan. \nIt takes most people about 5-6 days to complete the route and there are some easy alternate sections to get around difficult stretches. There are many great camp spots along the way for those looking to rough it. The route also works well for those looking to stay in hotels or to do a little of both. \nBest time of year: June through September is the best window for the Washington route. Snow in the mountain passes can block riders from completing the route early and late in the season. \nThe longest gap between gas stations is approximately 122 miles from Packwood to Ellensburg\, \nAll bikes must be plated and in good working order with fresh\, knobby tires\, oil changed and checked\, chains in good condition and all lights working. Please bring a tool kit specific to your bike and spare front and rear tubes (even if you are tubeless- No exceptions)\, as well as extra RocStraps or other tie downs to hold on anything that yard sales! \nPack light\, These bikes are heavy enough! Starting in the high deserts of the southeast and exploring north through ancient pine forests and into the rugged mountains of the Cascade Range\, challenges include lava rocks\, silt\, sand\, and arduous mountain roads. From sagebrush steppe and hot springs\, to caverns and glaciated volcanoes\, riders are guided into remote territories that reveal many of the state’s natural wonders\, providing prime sightseeing and recreational opportunities. With stunning views throughout and terrain that is certain to test your riding skills and endurance\, the ORBDR is one of the best ways to discover the backcountry of Oregon. \nThe longest gap between fuel stops is 150 miles from Denio Junction NV to Plush OR. 75-100 miles in other sections. \nAll bikes must be plated and in good working order with fresh\, knobby tires\, oil changed and checked\, chains in good condition and all lights working. SUMMARY:New Mexico BDR
DESCRIPTION:From the BDR website\n“If you grew up watching westerns on TV\, the landscapes on the New Mexico BDR will bring back memories. It’s true Wild West with the history to prove it.\nYou’ll ride through areas where the notorious outlaw ‘Billy the Kid’ made history by eluding authorities and see the land the same way he did because not much has changed in many of these places. Wild horses\, landscapes that roll on forever and the tiniest of towns highlight this route.\nBeginning in Dell City\, TX you’ll enjoy the Guadalupe Rim views on your way to the high-elevation historic town of Cloudcroft. Hot springs\, and lakeside camping can be found on your way into the mountains of the Gila National Forest and you’ll even be a stone’s throw from AZ before heading back to the north east toward Colorado. Highlights include Chloride Canyon\, long stretches between towns and endless dispersed camping options. The last section north of Abiquiu winds through high mountains with open meadows with groves of aspen trees and is as beautiful as it gets.\nBest time of year: Late May/June and September/October. July and August are monsoon season with extremely high temperatures and not recommended.” \nGet your tickets here! \nOur plan will be to meet up at Performance Cycle Saturday morning and head south on I-25 and 285 to Roswell\, 489 miles. I will find us a Hotel once we have a final count. Sunday morning we will take the opportunity to go see the caverns before heading to the BDR route and picking it up North of Dell City at El Paso Pass (named by the New Mexico Department of Redundancy Department). \nNo further itinerary is planned as this allows us to freedom to take each day as it comes and adapt to weather and terrain. \nThis is rated as the 3rd easiest BDR behind Idaho and Mid-Atlantic. All riders must be comfortable riding in sand and loose rocks. Any bike you want to bring is fine but remember we will have several hundred miles of freeway to get there and back. I will be on my Africa Twin. Please make sure you have good knobby tires and your bike is in proper working order. \nPlan to camp most nights. We will find shower opportunities as often as we can and likely will hotel it a few nights for that very reason. I will probably bring enough food for most of the trip rather than rely on Restaurants. \nAs always if you have any questions please contact me at 970-308-0374\nAdam Animal

SUMMARY:Truth or Consequences
DESCRIPTION:Who’s ready to get out of the cold and head down to New Mexico for our annual winter retreat?! Truth or Consequences has miles of incredible desert trails from mountain single track to fast open desert roads. Elephant Butte is known as a summer spot so this time of year there is absolutely no one out on the trails despite day time temps averaging around 60! \nNothing out here is super technical\, though not for the very novice either. Any 500cc and smaller bike will do just fine in the sandy soil. Plates are required to ride on road to the trail heads. \nWe will be staying in a nice house in Elephant Butte. 3 bedrooms\, and 5 beds are available\, as well as plenty or space to set up an air mattress on the floor. ( that’s what I will be doing). 2 bathrooms and a kitchen to cook breakfast and dinner in\, as well as laundry on site. Price for lodging for the entire week is just $200 per person! Trip will be limited to 8 people Max!

SUMMARY:Wyoming BDR
DESCRIPTION:Details\nhttps://www.meetup.com/Front-Range-Dual-Sport-Riders/events/283339073/ \n\nThe long awaited Wyoming BDR (WYBDR) is our eleventh route developed for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. \nThe Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route is a multi-day off-pavement ride for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles through the most dramatic and rugged landscapes in Wyoming. Beginning in Baggs\, WY\, the route traces the mountain ranges to the east through the Sierra Madre and Medicine Bow Ranges\, crosses west to the Wind River Range\, then goes back east and north through the Bighorn Mountains\, eventually ending at a remote Wyoming-Montana border. Almost every section includes some moderately technical riding\, as the remote two-track flows through regions of vast high-desert\, short-grass prairies\, and alpine climates. You will experience expansive views from the summit of two different 11\,000-foot mountains\, cross two major rim escarpments and pass through many other seldom visited areas and historic mining towns. This is the most remote BDR\, so plan ahead and be prepared to have a true backcountry adventure. \nPrior experience riding with this group is required for this ride.

Most of the trails out here are single or two track best for small bikes. Larger bikes and beginner riders can explore the surrounding areas of Gypsum\, Eagle\, and down to Leadville and north towards Steamboat. I will be leading several rides throughout the day for beginner/intermediate as well as advanced riders. \nThis is a great place to come practice your skills. Bring the wife and kids and lets have a blast! We will be camping from Thursday night through Monday along Spring Creek Road. Follow gps coordinates. It’s very easy to find\, there are tons of spots along that road if you want your own spot. Cell service has worked in the past for me as well. SUMMARY:San Rafael Swell. Green River Utah.
DESCRIPTION:Details\nhttps://www.meetup.com/Front-Range-Dual-Sport-Riders/events/269319053/ \n\nJoin us for a fun week of early season riding in Utah’s San Rafael Swell area. Located just southwest of Green River\, this area offers a great deal of riding suitable to all rider skills and bikes. The main roads and much of the area to the north are great for big bikes and easy riding\, while the south and the numbered trails are amazing for small bikes and technical riding. (who’s up for doing “5 miles of hell” with me?) \nI will be bringing both bikes (Africa Twin and XR650R) But will mostly be leading technical dirt bike rides on the trails. However\, one day I will definitely lead a long loop ride thru Capital Reef\, and Boulder Canyon and Burr Trail. (250ish miles\, I can’t remember exactly). Goblin Valley is also a 10 minute ride from camp and is an out of this world experience. \nWe will be camping at Temple Mountain Campground\nhttps://www.blm.gov/visit/temple-mountain-townsite-campground \nTemps will likely be in the 40’s or cooler at night so plan accordingly\nThere are vault toilets available but please bring your own TP as they may be out. The nearest town is Green River. Last year the State Park was not allowing walk in showers due to low water levels. Brian has offered his camp shower but you will need to provide your own water. Please bring at least 10 gallons of fuel to re-fuel in camp and avoid trips into town. \nPlease make sure your bike is in proper mechanical condition with good off road tires. Bring plenty of water both for camp and for on the bike as there is no water available there. I will have my Coleman stove and camp kitchen and anyone is welcome to use it. \nPlease contact me with any questions or comments\n970-308-0374\nAdam@hayvenhomes.com\n-Adam Animal
